Bleu has negotiated a great package price for this unique Belize excursion. Enjoy the beauty, culture and adventure of the Belize jungle and the comforts of your luxury cabana at Mariposa Jungle Lodge.
Tuesday, Day 1 - You will be met on arrival at the Goldson International Airport (BZE) in Belize City, and transferred by van to Mariposa Jungle Lodge for your five-night stay. If time permits, your licensed Mariposa driver/guide will take you to the Belize Zoo. Otherwise, you can visit the Zoo on your departure day from the Lodge.
Dinner tonight will introduce you to fine-quality Belizean cuisine.
Wednesday, Day 2 - After breakfast, you will depart for a full-day excursion to Caracol, the greatest Maya archaeological site in Belize, for an informative tour among the excavated ruins. Your day will also include a stop at the awesome Rio Frio Cave, the Rio On Pools, and Big Rock Falls. A picnic lunch will be served.
Dinner tonight will be a gourmet barbeque, served under the stars (weather permitting) on our private jungle birdwatching tower.
Thursday, Day 3 - This morning you will have the unique opportunity to learn about local villages and visit several private homes of Mayans who moved to Belize from Guatemala many years ago. You will learn about income, expenses, lifestyle, and food. Try your hand at making tortillas before indulging in a buffet of Mayan/Belizean and Guatemalan foods.
This afternoon, you have a choice of a ½ day jungle horseback ride, a canoe visit to Barton Creek Cave, or a visit to Bol's Cave Museum.
Tonight is seafood night. An Italian food menu is offered as an alternative.
Thursday, Day 4 - Today it's Actun Tunichil Muknal (ATM) for the more adventuresome and physically fit. This excursion involves a 45-minute hike, wading across a river several times, climbing over rocks, swimming and wading in a cave, and visiting a site of Mayan ceremonies and sacrifices. This is a once-in-a-lifetime experience but not for the feint-of-heart.
For those who are claustrophobic or choose not to visit ATM, we offer two alternatives: (1) ziplining and a guided visit to Barton Creek Cave by canoe, followed by Green Hills Butterfly Ranch, or (2) ziplining, a visit to Bega 1, a user-friendly cave with beautiful formations and Mayan petroglyphs, followed by Green Hills Butterfly Ranch.
Tonight's farewell dinner - West African/Moroccan theme.
Saturday, Day 5 - Saturday is market day at the San Ignacio Farmers Market. After allowing free time to experience the market, your guide will give you a brief narrated drive around San Ignacio, Belize's second largest "city", (population 13,000,) before you enjoy a guided tour of Xunantunich, a nearby Mayan site that provides an incredible 360 degree view if you care to climb to the top of the temple. Climbing is optional. Lunch Belizean style. Then you will be taken to Macaw Bank Jungle Lodge for a short jungle hike, river tubing, and an evening event consisting of a fine dinner in the outdoor restaurant, a complimentary Belizean drink, and fun in the making.
Those who are not interested in the San Ignacio excursion may be taken to Macaw Bank for tubing and swimming (weather permitting), or a half-day jungle horseback ride, or to Bol's Cave Museum.
All guests will reunite for cocktails and a special farewell dinner.
Sunday, Day 6 - After breakfast, your departure will be scheduled based on your next stop. You may transfer directly to the International Airport for return to the U.S or arrange for an optional cave tubing stop (not included) en route to the Belize City water taxi or Municipal Airport for your optional trip to San Pedro. Ask about optional extensions to snorkel or dive off San Pedro, Ambergris Caye. For those hardcore adventurers who haven't had enough of a challenge, you may stay at Mariposa for additional discounted nights and some challenging caving, hiking, or mountain biking experiences. Or, we can take you to the Guatemala border for an excursion to Flores and Tikal.
Whichever itinerary options you choose, you're sure to have a wonderful, unforgettable experience with your friends from Bleu at Mariposa Jungle Lodge in Belize.
