Caracol/Mt. Pine Ridge
Caracol, Mountain Pine Ridge Forest Reserve, Rio Frio Cave and Rio On Pools
Caracol, where an estimated 150,000 people once lived in a metropolis covering nearly a square mile, is the largest and most spectacular Mayan site in Belize. Located in the Chiquibul Rainforest, only seven miles from the Guatemalan border (if you’re a bird), Caracol is actually larger than nearby Tikal, but not as extensively excavated.
This tour offers a unique opportunity to experience and understand the lifestyle and culture of the local people in our area. Throughout the tour, your guide will offer informative and entertaining commentary on the habits, beliefs and differences of the various peoples in the villages of San Antonio and Seven Miles, many of whose families migrated to Belize from other Latin American countries.
