Driving Directions
Please Note: Be alert for speed bumps along the highway. Do not depend on signs.
For those of you choosing the adventure of driving in Belize, here are directions to get to our location. Please print off these maps and instructions as cell phone coverage in Belize can be spotty (and expensive!) and you should not rely on web-based maps for directions. Please note: speed bumps on the highway are designed for 10mph and are not always marked. Be alert.”
Leaving the airport, you will see a junction in front of you. Turn left towards Burrell Boom. Turn left here up the Northern Highway away from Belize City and continue until you reach a sign to the left for Burrell Boom. Turn left and continue until you reach a traffic circle where you bear right toward Belmopan.
After you pass the Belize Zoo, you will see a sign indicating a left turn to Belmopan and Dangriga. Ignore this. Continue straight past Guanacaste Park (on your right) and over a small bridge to the village of Roaring Creek. Then you’ll pass through a series of villages, including Unitedville, Blackman Eddy, and eventually Georgeville, where you’ll see a large overhead sign directing you to turn left toward to Mt. Pine Ridge and Caracol.
On the driver side, you’ll see a group of resort signs, including one for Mariposa Jungle Lodge. So, you turn left and follow the Georgeville Road for approximately nine miles, passing a turnoff on the left to El Progresso/7 Miles and the Green Hills Butterfly Ranch on the right.
Soon you will reach a junction where you should turn right.
Landmarks: a local store called “The Malfunction Junction” and a sign to Mariposa Jungle Lodge on the corner across the road. Watch for our driveway on the left, approximately 200 feet from the corner. Pull into the second driveway, on the far side of the road sign.
If you miss the Georgeville Road turnoff, you will have another opportunity in Santa Elena, about five miles further along the Western Highway. Again, you’ll see an overhead sign to the Mountain Pine Ridge, as well as numerous signs on the driver’s side for various resorts and tourist destinations. Veer left and drive up the hill along this road, passing through the villages of Cristo Rey and San Antonio. Bear left in San Antonio Village when you see the road coming to an end. Mariposa Jungle Lodge is three miles from the Village on the right. If you reach the junction to the Mt. Pine Ridge and Caracol, you’ve missed our driveway by 200 feet.
